U.S. Developed Successful Thermal Liquid Crystalline Polymer Film

As we all know, the performance of aluminum-plastic composite packaging materials is superior, but it is opaque. For this reason, a new type of high-barrier material has been successfully developed; its barrier properties are good, and other properties are equal to or better than those of aluminum-plastic composite materials. This kind of composite packaging material called GT is made by depositing a film of inorganic material (such as nano-silicon oxide or titanium oxide) with a thickness of 10 to 100 μm on the surface of a plastic film. This kind of nano coating has stable performance. Even after high temperature sterilization, its gas barrier property, moisture resistance and transparency are still as it was.

In recent years, the United States has successfully developed a thermo-effect liquid crystal polymer film (TLCP) consisting of a special dense, long-chain fibrous polymer with good strength and toughness. The gas barrier properties of a 2 μm thick liquid crystal polymer are equivalent to 25 μm thick EVOH, but the price is much lower than the latter. 
