The economic hotel industry landscape is brewing a change. Budget hotel chain "Motel 168" is planning to sell. There are rumors in the industry that the largest budget hotel group in China, such as Home Inn, is the most likely receiver. If Home Inn acquires Motel, other hotel brands will be under pressure, and it will be more difficult to achieve surpassing in scale.

On January 19, Yan Huiping, the chief financial officer of Home Inns Group, said at a meeting in Beijing that Home Inns was considering acquiring the Motel 168 hotel chain. In this regard, Home Inn CEO Sun Jian said that the current acquisition plan has not yet entered a substantial stage, it is inconvenient to disclose. However, Rujia recently announced its 2011 store expansion plan, which will open 260 to 280 new stores in 2011. The rapidity of this speed can set a record in the industry, and the acquisition will become the most feasible way to achieve the goal.

Motel is currently the fifth national economy hotel chain in scale. According to the latest statistics provided by Shanghai Yingdie Hotel Management Consulting Co., Ltd., Motel currently has 276 stores nationwide and 43,801 rooms. The first to fourth places are home-made 89 046 rooms, 7 days 56 821 rooms, Jinjiang Inn 54 056 rooms, Han court 48 096 rooms. In other words, in addition to Rujia, any top four hotel acquisition of Motel will rewrite the current economic hotel market structure and become a new leader. And if it is taken into account by Rujia, its strong position will be more stable.

In fact, several major brands have expressed interest in Motel, including Jinjiang, the only company in the A-share market that mainly focuses on budget hotels. However, Chen Wenzhe, director of Jinjiang Inn's marketing department, said that after many considerations, it is unlikely that the order will be accepted.
