Shimadzu launches triple quadrupole mass spectrometry detection scheme for quinolone antibiotic residues in milk

Quinolones (Quinolones) are a class of chemically synthesized antibacterial drugs containing 4-quinolone nucleus. It has a wide antibacterial spectrum and strong antibacterial activity, and is widely used in animal husbandry and aquaculture. However, quinolones have potential carcinogenicity and genotoxicity, and they are also prone to drug resistance. Therefore, the problem of residues of quinolones has attracted more and more attention. The US FDA announced in 2005 that it would ban the sale and use of the antibacterial drug enrofloxacin for the treatment of bacterial infections in poultry. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization / World Health Organization Joint Committee of Food Additive Experts and the European Union have established maximum residue limits for various quinolones in animal tissues. High-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry is a fast-developing analysis technology in recent years, with high selectivity and sensitivity, strong qualitative ability for antibiotic residues in complex matrices, and high accuracy. Currently the preferred method for ultra-trace residue analysis.

Shimadzu established a method for the determination of 14 quinolone antibiotics in foods of animal origin using Shimadzu ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and triple quadrupole mass spectrometry. After the samples were processed, the ultra-high performance liquid chromatography LC-30A was used to achieve rapid separation within 7 minutes, and the triple quadrupole mass spectrometer LCMS-8040 was used for quantitative analysis. The calibration curve of 14 quinolone antibiotics was drawn internally using an external standard method, with good linearity and a correlation coefficient of over 0.999; precision experiments were performed on standard solutions of different concentrations, and the relative standard deviations of retention time and peak area for 6 consecutive injections Below 0.437% and 4.937%, indicating that the instrument is of good precision.
