The printing area of ​​one-color or several-color graphics and text in a large layout is small, and these graphics and text are often trademarks or iconic patterns or texts, which have strict requirements on hue accuracy and ink color consistency. The ink consumption of these small layouts is almost zero. When printing, especially when printing with domestic monochrome or multi-color offset presses, there will be many failures, which are mainly manifested in the following points.

(1) Due to the small amount of ink used in the layout, the ink fountain is almost completely closed, and the amount of ink is too difficult to control. In general, the amount of ink tends to be too large. If the ink fountain is adjusted to reduce the amount of ink, it will easily lead to a small amount of ink. Repeatedly adjusting the ink fountain in this way will cause the ink color of a batch of prints to be seriously inconsistent, and sometimes even the same print will have two or more identical graphic ink colors that are very different.

(2) Because the amount of ink used in the layout is small and the machine is running at a high speed, the "dry rubber roller" or "dry glue" phenomenon will inevitably appear at both ends of the ink roller.

(3) The amount of ink used in the layout is small, so that there is almost no new ink in the ink path, but the water supply of the layout requires "constant flow". Under the action of the shearing force, the ink is seriously emulsified and it is easy to make the layout "floating "; In order to make the layout clean, we have to increase the amount of water, so that the emulsification of the ink is greater. In this way, a vicious cycle is formed, and the ink color is more difficult to control. It will also cause the small color patch to become false and even appear "sticky".

When undertaking the printing of a batch of wine packaging boxes, it is printed on white paper, the format is 340mm × 880mm, six colors. Most of the color areas are large, and there are even full-text areas. The blue text is extremely small, with only a few dots and two trademark patterns about 4mm large. In order to avoid the above failures, the paper format is changed to 360mm × 880mm, so that the blanking is still 3K, and the raw materials are not wasted. When making a plate, a 30mm × 880mm solid color bar is printed on the large part of the paper outside the effective layout of the blue version. This way, although some ink is wasted during printing, the ink color is easy to control. Subtle changes can be clearly observed on the "color block strip", and the ink emulsification is successfully avoided, so that the printing quality is guaranteed.

In addition, some similar jobs are not added with "color strips" when making plates, but when printing PS plates, we cut the "red film" or red paper into different specifications such as 20mm, 10mm or 5mm in width according to the size of the printing paper. The strips were pasted on the outside of the effective layout of the film, and were equally successful.
