In 1951, Tetra Pak developed a technology for filling liquids such as milk and beverages in paper containers, and promoted related technologies to 170 countries around the world. One of Tetra's main businesses is to promote the sales of paper container filling technology and equipment to beverage companies and food companies. In 1956 Japan also introduced this technology. Paper containers have many advantages such as being light, space-saving, prominent in printing, easy to use, and recyclable, and thus have been widely used in the beverage-centered food industry.

In 2003, Tetra Pak made a technological breakthrough once again, namely the development of Telijia® packaging technology. The focus of this technology is to carry out pressurized heat treatment such as filling sterilization while maintaining all the advantages of the paper container. The conventional paper container packaging is not resistant to moisture and heat, and cannot be used in a pressurized filling sterilization process in which 100 to 130 degrees of steam is blown. Therefore, foods heated at high temperatures and pressurized can only use containers such as metal cans, glass bottles, and distilling bags. The Trolltech® packaging adds 3 layers of high-temperature-resistant polypropylene material outside the paper, which can completely replace metal cans, glass bottles, distilling bags and other containers. Currently, about 50 countries and more than 150 branded products use this Telijia® packaging technology.
