[China Packaging Network News] IKEA products inherited the Nordic style of humanity full of human design, to be close to the people's prices, deeply loved by domestic young people. In addition to being good-looking and inexpensive, sustainability is a lifestyle that IKEA has always advocated.
Recently, IKEA and the Swedish design company Form Us With Love (hereinafter referred to as "FUWL") have jointly launched the first 100% recycled cabinet series Kungsbacka.
The basic structure of Kungsbacka is built from recycled industrial wood and coated again with a coating made of PET plastic bottles. According to reports, every 25 plastic bottles with a capacity of 500 ml can meet the coating requirements of 40cm*80cm.
Although environmental protection is important, as consumers demand quality of life, if Kungsbacka wants to succeed in the market, it must meet two conditions—beautiful design and reasonable cost. This is the key problem that the design team needs to solve in the R&D process.
In color tone, the design team chose a matt carbon black which is more resistant to look and texture, and treated the corners of cabinets softer, adding a “human touchâ€. Moreover, the series continues the modular nature of IKEA products and allows them to flexibly adapt to the needs of different kitchen spaces.
We hope that it can be as fit and practical as a black T-shirt, and still people want to cherish it.
The FUWL team creative director explained this way.
When referring to recycled materials, many people think of keywords that may be "cheap", but the fact is exactly the opposite. In many cases, the cost of processing recycled materials is often higher than the cost of purchasing new materials.
As a result, FUWL, Italian material supplier 3B and IKEA Tripartite spent more on material research and development when designing products, ultimately succeeding in reducing production costs, and guaranteeing a product life cycle of up to 25 years. Above, it conforms to the "democratic design" spirit of IKEA's product design - Form, Function, Quality, Sustainability and Low Price.

In February this year, IKEA bought a 15% minority stake in a Dutch plastics recycling company called Morssinkhof Rymoplast Group. This investment funding comes from the 1 billion euro special fund set up by IKEA for the development of sustainability.
Over the past 20 years, IKEA has spent a total of €1.5 billion on renewable energy and has projects around the world. IKEA UK also achieved "zero waste landfill" in 2016.
IKEA's emphasis on sustainable development, in addition to its willingness to pay for research, is also reflected in its "If you do not allow me to protect the environment, I will withdraw funds," the proud character.
In January this year, IKEA was in conflict with the British government because of the latter.
Joanna Yarrow, head of sustainable development at IKEA UK, complained to reporters:
The wind power in the United Kingdom is of commercial value and is one of the most suitable wind energy sources in the world. But we have to operate in a political environment that is so unfriendly to such resources. So we decided to change the place (investment). We hope to see (British) change.
In addition, she also stressed that in the past 5 or 6 years, it is increasingly difficult to invest in renewable energy in the UK. Large companies such as IKEA are unable to spend money.
According to statistics from the Huffington Post, Ikea, with "I would like to do a good job in environmental protection and model work in Greater Nordics," has brought 327 wind turbines to the world and installed 700,000 solar panels in shops and The distribution point is on the roof.
