Igus's self-aligning "igubal" bearing product line is made entirely of engineering plastics. Now, this product line has added two new mini-products and has begun mass production. Both products are lightweight, compact, easy to install and adapt to all eccentric features. In today's bearing technology, these mechanical parts made of high-performance engineering plastics blends are being increasingly used in logistics, laboratory and fixture components. The main reason for this trend is that the characteristics of this material allow these bearings to be used in very dirty and harsh environments. They are completely maintenance-free, do not require any sealing even in heavily contaminated environments, and do not show corrosion in liquids or even chemical reagents.
New type sliding bearing - wall thickness is halved
Now, igus has developed and produced a new type of engineering plastic bushing with high elasticity - KGLM mini bearing. Its wall thickness is reduced by half (22 mm shaft diameter) compared to the previous model. The wall thickness of this new sliding bearing is only 3 mm, so it requires only a small installation space. Due to the use of a two-piece structure (pedestal and spherical ball cap), this type of plain bearing can absorb vibrations better than metal-made products. When the shaft rotates and vibrates, it acts as a muffler.
Dislocation compensation
The pedestal is made of a particularly strong and reinforced polymer material "igumid G" material. This self-aligning pedestal compensates for angular misalignment. Through the internal free movement, spherical ball cap can effectively compensate for misalignment. The ball cap is made of "iglidur W300" material, which gives a minimum coefficient of friction between the shaft and the ball cap.
