After the release of the world's first color multi-material 3D printer, stratasys, the leader in 3D printing, has introduced Endur, a prototype of polypropylene, which can be used in the prototyping of household appliances, consumer goods, automotive parts and laboratory equipment.
On April 24th, straisys application engineer Shi Hui said, “Our material has been sold in China. As an important part of the company's global market, the sale in the Chinese market is synchronized with the world.â€
The size of the 3D printing market has increased more than five times in 2018
Shi Hui said that the company has about 10 core distributors in China, serving the entire mainland. A stratasys Shenzhen customer revealed that stratasys sold about 300 3D printers in China in 2012 and about 450-470 in 2013.
But the market is about to usher in a strong competitor. At the end of March this year, 2D printing giant Hewlett-Packard announced that it will enter the 3D printer market by the end of this fiscal year. The main reason for HP's decision is that Stratasys' 3D printing part of the core patent has expired or will expire in a year, which will provide conditions for the industry to develop into a competitive market.
In 2013, HP's print market share was close to 40%, and now entering the 3D printer market will not require a lot of time and money to develop new technologies. Shi Hui admitted that the patents that were invalidated were basically attributed to stratasys. By the end of this year, some of the company's FDM (Fused Deposition Modelin, hot melt deposition curing method) patent will expire, "but there are still many core technology patents still belong to stratasys."
Competition will be conducive to market cultivation. According to Juniper Research, a UK market research firm, the global sales of home 3D printers will exceed 1 million units by 2018, while industry insiders believe that sales will only reach 44,000 units this year; market research firm Canalys also predicts In 2014, the global 3D printing market transaction volume will increase from 2.5 billion US dollars last year to 3.8 billion US dollars, and will increase to 16.2 billion US dollars by 2018.
This means that starting from 2018 this year, the 3D printing market will grow more than five times in size and the compound annual growth rate will reach 45.7%. In Shi Hui's view, the future applications based on 3D printing will continue to increase, and the price of 3D printers will drop sharply, thus entering the mass market. In China, 3D printing is still in the research stage. Yingke Materials is the first-time tester of 3D printers. Through this technology, it successfully “tested and printed†10 physical houses. Since then, Wang Shi, chairman of the board of directors of Vanke, said that the company will use three-dimensional printers to print houses three years later.
At present, China's 3D printing industry equipment, materials, software and other core areas can achieve self-sufficiency in different degrees, and in the fields of cultural creativity, industry, biomedicine and other fields. "But this is not enough." Luo Jun, executive director of China's 3D printing technology industry alliance, said, "The gap between China and Europe and the United States is mainly reflected in the rapid gap in scale." The scale of 3D printing companies in Europe and America is generally 20 ~300 million yuan level, and China has not yet had a company sales revenue of more than 100 million yuan, and Europe and the United States in the equipment level is significantly higher than China, China's use of metal powder and other materials are basically dependent on imports.
Luo Jun revealed that the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments are conducting research on relevant aspects. It is expected that some support policies will be introduced at the end of this year.
