The pace of Maxi-Race Jiangshan 100 is getting closer and closer. The more the runners are surging, the bigger the gods are gearing up. This year's UTMB, Maxi-Race's double-champion Ludovic POMMERET, had also set an early schedule and confirmed that he would go to China to participate in Jiangshan 100 in November. Each time, the gods will also hold a pre-meeting sharing session and they must not miss the opportunity to pay their respects.
The gods are all coming. Didn't the registered buddies still hesitate?
Editor's note
UTMB (Mont Blanc Motocross Challenge), one of the most difficult extreme trail races on Earth. Maxi-Race Annecy, the most prestigious 50-mile cross-country race in Europe. In the Alps, many top experts have chosen MaXi-Race as the most important stop before UTMB. It's difficult to capture the double-championship championship. The following is a Facebook tweet after Ludovic POMMERET's UTMB finish. The little friends come together to feel the spirit of God.
UTMB, This is what I once sadly. In 2004 and 2005, the two abandoned matches. In 2010 and 2012, they were forced to cancel because of weather.
This year, together with my coach Philippe PROPAGE, we have been more fully prepared and I am very eager to finish. Especially for Philippe, but he did not specifically support me to participate in UTMB and to represent France in the World Cross Country Championship. So I only set a small goal for myself: I finished UTMB in 24 hours.
After the excitement of the first stage after the start of the game, I ran in a group of leading players. Although I was very fast, I still like to stay in this competitive atmosphere.
After passing St Gervais, I started to have some bad signs. I felt my stomach started to hurt but I didn't worry too much. After seeing CELINE through Conta's supply point, I took a Spasfon (an analgesic for abdominal pain) but the effect was not good and the abdominal pain was getting so severe that I could no longer run, fortunately I You can also walk. It's hard to accept watching other players from overtaking me. I went to the bathroom in Balme, and then continued to move hard. I was already thinking of abandonment and another UTMB failure in my head, but I did not want to give up, so I decided to take a nap in Courmayeur and Champex. Although I told CELINE and my daughter not to look at me halfway, they still managed to come to Champex to cheer on me. Here I rank about 50. I forced myself to eat something while replenishing water. Although I almost spit out when I took the first bite, I still swallowed it. It also helped me to restore the state of running a little bit. I slowly accelerated and gradually caught up with the player who just surpassed me and cheered me on. Especially a few masters, Diego PAZOS, had problems with his feet; Thomas LORBLANCHET, the situation was not good; then Sangé SHERPA, and my teammate - this year's women's champion Caroline CHAVEROT. The biggest surprise was that I discovered beyond the Spaniard Luis Albertos HERNANDO - this year's championship hit, his foot had something going wrong. The exchange with other players gave me impetus. After 2 hours and 30 minutes, after a hellish downhill, I ran into the top 15, and I said to myself that running into the top 10 is still promising.
To Courmayeur, on the second break, the abdomen was still uncomfortable. I once again took Spasfon and Doliprane. Starting again, I was ranked 11th and it was very difficult to go beyond other players. I caught up with Tim TOLLEFSEN. After the exchange, we all agreed that his compatriot Zach MILLER will be ahead of the game and take the lead in completing the game because he has already taken the lead for 20 minutes.
At Bertone, I overtook Arnaud LEJEUNE. I tried to encourage him to keep on cheering, but it looks like he is not in the state. Into the top 10, I once again adjusted my goal: to enter the top 5. I fear that I can't keep this rhythm all the time, but I can't control that much. For a long time, I could not surpass anyone. But at this time, the sky starts to brighten, and enjoying the scenery is also good. At this time I saw a player walking slowly, it seems to be the rhythm of the game, I exceeded him.
At Col Fernet, the scenery was beautiful. I found that the top 5 were not far away. At Fouly, I caught up behind Grediminas GRINIUS and Sebastien CAMUS, but I could barely overtake them. I stopped to rest for a while, and they were again pulled away. I took this rest and checked my abdominal pain and the color of the urine to make sure my kidneys were OK. The main problem is the lack of water, and drinking plenty of water can cause abdominal pain. CELINE conveyed to me the coach's suggestion: Drink water and increase the frequency of drinking. I did. When I re-run, I overtook Andy SYMONDS and it was a surprise because for me, he was also a strong contender for this year's championship. He had varying degrees of pain in both of his legs. We exchanged a few races. I am sure he will return to the status quo, so I proceed. During Champex's upswing, I overtook Seb (Sebastien CAMUS) and entered the top 5!
At the point of supply, I left a big headlight, only retained a mandatory equipment, and put on a sun hat. I was only 15 minutes away from the first place! On the flat ground I ran well. In climbing, I have been using my cane to speed up. I was glad that I bought this Gipron cane the day before the game. Unfortunately, on this pile of stones, my stick was jammed and completely destroyed. I replaced another backup Dahu walking stick and proceeded. New surprise, I saw Fabien ANTOLINOS ahead. He was ready to abandon the game. I thought that after he had won the fifth place last year, he had been meticulously prepared to have a better ranking this year. After a while, I overtook my teammate Huka, Julien CHORIER. Maybe it was the UTMB podium that made me excited. I performed better on a downhill slope, and the pain in my legs wasn't compared to my abdominal pain. I caught up with Gediminas and we marched side by side. I joked that it is time to eat a hamburger together. To know that Gediminas is a vegetarian, he called us the French people who eat snails or eat frogs.
At this point, the first American was at the top of the hill seven minutes away from us. We were below him and the sunshine was particularly strong. At Torient, the new supply point, I changed for Lekis' cane. Compared to Gibron, I felt like I had two big hammers. On the ground, I try to keep the distance from the first Zach not to be pulled up. After a period of time, I tried to surpass him. There is nothing to say now. I am number one! Be sure to stay!
At the same time, he must keep his head cool and soon Zach gave up. After a pass, I started downhill and tried to relax. After the descent I arrived at Vallorcine, the last supply point. After the supply, I quickly set out again and insisted! I forced myself to continue my rhythm and run until Col des Montets. In hot weather, no water can cool down. It's really hard. But I can estimate my lead is about 20 minutes. The rhythm started to slow down, but I tried to keep it up and accelerate at the same time. The process of climbing does not end and makes people desperate. Finally at La Flagère, my lead was extended to 24 minutes. I'm going to start downhill. Until now I can't believe I was first. This downhill is very gentle but long, the only goal is not to get injured before the victory.
Finally saw the Chamonix town, and now I finally believe that he is the first, and at the same time began to taste the taste of victory, all kinds of excitement quickly occupied me. The ambience of this section of the road before the end of the term was incredible. The tears filled my eyes. I saw my daughter waiting for me not far from the end. At this moment my feelings could not be described in words. It was probably the happiest moment in my life. It. I hope this moment can be continued. Do not end it. I clashed with the audience waiting on both sides of the track, and finally I hugged my daughter and passed the finish line. UTMB founder Catherine greeted every arriving player at the finish and the media flash kept flashing.
What else can I say? The game is full of suspense, and at the moment I am very excited and happy!
